hey there.

I’m T.K., a girl rolling aroundLA by bicycle, navigating the City of Angels… come along for the ride.

Only 24 Hours in L.A., My Girl?!

Only 24 Hours in L.A., My Girl?!

Hopefully no one that threatens to knock me out of my future spot as a top media public figure, content creator, blogger or whatever we’ll be calling ourselves, pays too close attention to this here blog website because I’m giving y’all ALL the tea!

Can you save something to tell The Lord?

That’s what this boy I have a little thing with told me a few days ago. Well, looks like I ain’t saving this! [shoulder shugs] That boy gets on my nerves and I really shouldn’t even like him.. seriously. Even this big booty, real seductive exotic dancer/lady-of-the-night said in my ear while he and I were out together, “you could do WAY better.” And she’s not lying, I could. There’s men on my line that are subjectively a “better” catch than this lil’ raggedy ahh boy, mais…

Anyway, I was trying to think of another blog post for the bike life section of my site and I said let me go over to these Squarespace analytics and see which research keywords are working that I can combined to make a new blog post. And by “working”, I mean a click.. or two. Laughable, really, laughable. Hm. Now that I’m saying this, it’s inspiring my next / a new milestone to meet with my blog — I look forward to generating 100 clicks in a month to a blog post from a single research keyword. Right now, at the top of my Squarespace analytics research keywords list is “netflix los angeles office” with 42 clicks in the past 30 days to my very random blog post about visiting the Netflix headquarters in Hollywood that I published to the site, what, a year and a half ago?! See, that’s another strange (unpredictable) aspect of blogging, a blog post you put absolutely no thought into to even think it would get seen gets the most seen. ⍨ [stale face]

Even though Internet trends are about as predictable as the stock market, the same as in trading, there exists strategy in blogging.

Ughhh, I don’t know if my current one is going to work.. that’s my problem, I have a problem with not knowing.. baby, I wantsssss ta know!! [I digress]

I’m currently trying to combine what’s worked in infrequent blogging in the past with a narrow niche I’ve identified for myself now. We decided we’re really going to lean into this whole cute girl that rides her bike around LA thing. [rubs forehead with long blink]. Yes, I transitioned from a car to a bicycle as my main source of transportation. And? Okay, I like riding bikes for fun.. so what?!

I never once said at the outset of around LA with TK that I wanted to make biking the base of the blog and write about that shiz-nye-ee all the time. Shucks. It’s the end of week 3 in this 12-week content strategy to which I’ve dedicated myself and I’m still/already annoyed. Ugh. But it really does make the most sense to niche down my blog at this attempt of mega-growth. So, yeah, that..

The research keywords I chose from the list to combine with the whole bike life bs for this blog post are: black girl guide to los angeles, Dam Good Coffee, nail salon, how to get on a game show, tupac mural los angeles, bike paths los angeles, black owned beauty supply, cheapest way to get to lax.

I won’t hold you any further, let’s ride, babe!

Riding Out

This is written in a way as if all of this could be done around LA in one day and unless you have some sort of super power, it can’t. Then again.. [grabs chin]. Maybe this could be a 24 hours in L.A., long layover in Los Angeles, situation. Not for me, I’m nowhere near time-efficient enough and way to easily distracted to go BOP! BOP! BOP!, seeing and doing all of this during a short visit to L.A. Yeah, no.. I could never, but you though, you should give it a go, my girl!

Okay, I’ve been at this desk for at least a couple of hours putting this blog post together and I still need to publish two more today to balance out two that I published this week not being within my new narrow niche. I asked ChatGPT, “if i published x amount of biker babe / bike life content per week, then occasionally posted about something from my social life or an opinion on a hot topic; would that soil the plot completely? would publishing blog posts about topics unrelated to my niche hurt my website so badly that all the content i'm posting that is within my niche would be in vain?” and the response was basically that it’s okay for me to write about topics outside of bike life while trying to build domain authority as long as I’m staying within the niche 80 percent of the time.

Got diggity dog! Now, I’ve put this into a word counter online to see if it’s a decent enough length before I move on to adding media and SEO details before going to press publish and I see a “keyword density” checker. I’ve used this word counter site before, yeah, and I never noticed a keyword density checker, but I guess now since I went into this blog post with keyword usage in mind, that’s standing out. At the top of keyword density is “bike” with 16 percent and following bike is “blog” with 12 percent. This is going to send me down another rabbit hole asking what should be the keyword density within a blog post. Grrrr..

This is feeling a whole lot like work.. and that’s my problem, I don’t like work.. I like to play, shoot.

Oh.. Yeah, this blog post probably won’t get any clicks because it’s not going into extensive detail on any one specific topic. Mmmm.. [lightbulb] Okay, I’m learning.. things are clicking in my brain.. The Netflix office blog post, in the moment it’s continuing to have, and the blog post encouraging women to be hypergamous, when it had its moment getting clicks from the web for the search term “broke men”, and other blog posts similar to those have one thing in common: repetition. Even though two blog posts written on two totally different topics were published months apart and years ago, they both were able to bring in pageviews to the blog (as a whole, aroundLAwithTK[dot]com) because within the individual blog posts, I kept repeating the same word in different ways, naturally, as I was going in on that one specific topic. Ah ha! Now I’m thinking back to the plethora of videos on YouTube about blogging that I watched before even beginning a blog and the advice is registering. It’s telling me that this blogging thing is similar to ballet, or other arts and physical activities, an instructor can show a student a technique, but it’s in the doing that really comes the learning. Mm. Thank You, Holy Spirit. In the doing lies the learning.

Later, y’all, let me get on to the 2nd of 3 blog posts I need to publish today.

Thank you for riding, riders.
